Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

to review last session, work on speaking naturally on page 24. i write have a cold on the board ask students about symptoms of having a cold. i add feeling tired.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

on the board i write" when do people get tired?" i write students' answers on the board. show them the picture on p.26 with class talk about it. students close the books listen and say why is Stan tired? listen again say how how does Yuki encourage Stan to continue talking. one student read part c for class.in pair do part D. check in class. In new pair talk about your own sleeping habits.ask students does Yuki think 2jobs are normal? elicit the word surprise. ask students to repeat the words for surprise.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

ask students what are the best ways to keep a conversation going? tell them about asking follow up questions and showing surprise.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

i say some sentences students show surprise or ask a proper follow up question. continue this activity in pair

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

do 2 exercise from part 2A. part B.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

students sit in groups. exercise part3. answer the questions about themselves.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

in pair practice the conversation on page26 then have a conversation like that about yourself.
