To provide students the opportunity to practice writing using the TL
Procedure (33-44 minutes)
PW - group students into pairs Display image 1 on WB - Ask what the image is and elicit answers for holiday Check they remember the word tourist Ex 1 - Teacher displays the following question on the WB; 'Think of three places tourists go to in your country. 'What do they do there?' Students to discuss answers in pairs. Briefly elicit answers for WC feedback
S-S task Teacher displays images (ex2) on the WB. T explains - Students to match words 1-18 to the pictures a-r Demonstrate image a on the white board In pairs, students check their answers. As they finish students come up and write the correct answer on the board
PW Image and vocabulary from last activity still on the WB Ask STS the following Q: Which of these things do you usually do on holiday? STS discuss in pairs Monitor discussion and clarify MFP if needed
Individual work Display image of San Francisco on whiteboard. Ask/elicit the following questions: Where is it? What activities can you do there? Note answer on WB Gap fill activity Introduce the email about Rachel's past trip to San Francisco. Remind them of the lesson on past simple with Asqat Demonstrate on WB gap fill 1 and 2 answers STS will then complete 3-12 using the correct form of the verb on 1a and add a preposition if needed. STS check answers in pairs WC feedback
Individual Writing activity STS will choose their favourite destination from ex 1. STS then write their own email using vocabulary from ex 2
