Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

start the class by showing a picture of your childhood and the time you used to go to elementary school. Ask Ss to guess how old were you in the picture. make some mistakes intentionally and try to expose them to the correcting expressions. then they're supposed to talk about their childhood and school days in pairs. a set of questions to be discussed are written on the board or on a question card. 1. what is your first memory of school? 2. How did you get to school when you were a child? 3.what happened to you on the first day of elementary school?

Exposure (7-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Have Ss's attention to the picture on p.48 ask them to make a list of words they think they might hear in the conversation between Tom and Jessica about fist day of school and FB on the board. listen for the 1st time and check their guesses? listen again and take notes of what Tom remembers. check notes in pairs listen for the last time and read the conversation to check.

Useful Language (5-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Ask Ss if Tom made any mistakes when he was remembering his school days? how did he correct himself? go through the text and underline the expressions he used. do the boarding. Ss are asked to role-play the conversation

Ss are supposed to make a similar conversation about the first day of school, ask them to make some mistakes intentionally and do the self-correction using the expressions.
