Procedure (37-51 minutes)
I will invite the students to stand up and make a circle.To say good morning,we'll play a short game:each person will put hands on neighbor's hand and clap.While clapping,the students will say 'good morning _(name)_'. Then I will show them a portrait and ask them if they know the artist.Then I will show a video about the painter to make them think about her past life.
I will write a few sentences about the painter that they will hear in listening part. `Frida Kahlo was born in Mexico.in Mexico City. When she was eighteen,she was travelling home from school in a bus which was involved in a terrible car accident. After the accident she started painting,because she had become bedridden. Then I will ask the order of the events,actions. Which action happened first? Which one is the last one?
Later,I will show a story from which all the verbs had been taken and ask:'which kid of text is it?Is there anything strange with it?Then,I'll ask them to read and later I will show the real form of the story.After asking the differences between 2 text and getting the answers:2'there isn't any verb inside.',I will have another question:'do we only need a verb to tell something or ?...' I will wait the responses like:tense or conjugation,etc... Then'I will show them a slide and they will do a matching activity. In that activity,they will have some sentences and they will match the examples with tenses and the meaning of the tenses.At this stage,I will draw a timeline on the board and clarify the position of the tenses.
The students will have a handout concerning an article in which they should find the correct tenses for the sentences.But before that,they will find the best title for this article.After checking with their partners,I will give the answer key.(grammar ex 1)
I will give them another handout on which there is a short text.Here,they will transform the verbs into the past simple,past continuous and past perfect and later they will check with their partners.Then,I will show the answers key.(grammar ex 3)
I will separate the students in two groups.They will have an handout. There is a picture of Frida Kahlo and 14 statements about her life.The students will create a story about this painter. (speaking ex 2/3/4)
The students will listen a track.This is a short biography of a painter.They will listen to the biography and compare with their own stories. Then,they will work in pairs and try to remember the information they have heard.
