  • To provide clarification and practice of ''compound adjectives'' through a reading text about ''fashion statements''.

Procedure

Warmer (4-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students.

I will show a picture of a couple who are in a music festival. And ask questions to warm up the class:''who do you think they are? what are they doing?where are they?''Then,an other picture of another couple will appear on the WB.I will ask the differences between these two photos.Later,I will tell that the couples are the same people but one of the pictures is taken in a festival called ''woodstock'' that doesn't exist anymore.I will say that it was a political festival of a tribe and explain the word ''tribe''. And I will ask the Ss which tribe can it be.Unless they know the answer,I'll give a handout and make them read it to find the words written in initial letters.

Lead-in/Pre-teach Vocabulary (4-7 minutes) • To make the students guess the topic by distinguishing different kind of social groups and teach some vocabulary.

I will have 12 pictures with me on the WB.I will draw a chart and paste the pictures of some social groups. Each picture will have a number. At one side of the WB,there will be names of the social groups and I will ask students to guess the right pictures for each tribe. After they finish classifying, they will lbe asked ook at the styles of those people and I will try to teach some bloking vocabs on the pictures. For example:''Look at the Teds, how do they look.Do they have -beards-?'' etc...

While-Reading/Reading for Gist (3-5 minutes) • To make the students have the main idea of the text

I will ask them to read the text and choose a title. For each response,I will ask ''how did you understand, what is the clue?''

While-Reading/Detail Reading (6-10 minutes) • To provide students understand a detailed text.

I will ask the Ss to read the text carefully once again to check the written sentences on the handout. They will find True/False statements. Then we will check all the answers by WCC.

Post-Reading (4-7 minutes) • To provide the students with expanding on what they've learned

I will have a couple of CCQ for the students. ''Are/have you been a member of a social group?Do you know anyone around you? How do they look? I will ask them to write at least 5 sentences.Later, they will work in pairs and read/talk to each other about the subject.

Vocabulary (3-4 minutes) • To provide students understand the meanins and usage of some compound adjectives.

I will ask Ss to do the Ex1 in order to make them have an idea about forming compound adjectives. They will work individually. After they finish,we will have WC checking.

Clarifying Vocabulary (3-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning and form of some compound adjectives.

Here, they will have another activity (Ex2) in which they will match the definitions and adjectives. Later I will ask them:'' how do we form compound adjectives?'' if some of them are in a doubt,I will have a short explanation about forming.Otherwise,I will ask them to find another examples from the text.

Controlled Practice (3-4 minutes) • To make sure that the students are able to use the vocabulary given.

They will have another handout now.Working in pairs, they will complete the gaps on the paper. After that we will check the answers.
