To enable students to listen for specific information using a video about Journeys in the context of describing journeys to work or school.
Subsidiary Aims

Give a chance to students to review and practice means of transport in the context of asking questions about how people get to work or school
Procedure (26-48 minutes)
T. does an ice-breaking first (greeting) T. invites the Ss to watch a video but without playing the sound and ask them to guess what people in the video would be talking about.(brain storming Ss) Ss work in pairs for one min and discuss what would be the topic. Whole class discussion. T. shows the Ss a picture in the over head projector of a woman going to work thinking about a taxi, and a man who is also going to work but thinking about a tube. T. explains the word "tube" with some pronunciation drilling. T. elicits more ideas from the Ss. T. explains what the word Journey mean with pronunciation drills if necessary.
T. writes three sentences on the WB (3-5 mins) 1- I get to work on foot. 2-It takes 10 mins. 3- It costs 0 TL. T. elicits the questions from the Ss: 1- How do you get to work? 2- How long does it take? 3- How much does it cost? T. shads light on the uses of the questions( transport, length of time and cost)
T.asks Ss to watch and listen carefully to the people mentioned in Ex.2 of the handout (Dawn, Christopher and Robbie)and chose the correct answer from the chart.T. plays the video podcast from 0:21 till the end. Ss work individually then they compare their answers( peer correction) T. monitors them then a whole class correction.(6mins) T. moves to Ex 3 of the same handout. T. plays the video again from 0:21 to 0:49 and the Ss listen and tick the words in the box at the same time. Peer correction then whole class correction. T. asks the Ss "How many people walk to work?" Whole class correction and T`s feed back.(4-6mins)
T.asks the Ss to watch the video again and find the appropriate missing verb in Ex 5 on the second handout. T.plays the video from 0:21 to 0:49 and the Ss are supposed to find the verbs while listening. T.asks the Ss to change their papers with their classmates for peer correction. T.provides answer keys on papers for the Ss to correct their answers.(4mins) T.asks the Ss to do Ex 4 on the same handout. T.plays the video from 0:52 to 1:28. The Ss match the sentences to the right person. Peer correction T. hides the answer key under the Ss` chair and ask them to pick it up and check their answers.(8mins)
T.asks the Ss to use the previous questions they have learned and write a short conversation with his/her classmate. T. rises a debatable question to give the Ss a change to discuss their thoughts and ideas. -which means of transportation you like best? taxi, bus, train...why do you like it?
