Description

This lesson focuses on the present perfect tense with 'already' & 'yet' to emphasize that something has happened before now ( perhaps earlier than expected). To make negative sentences and questions (yet) . The lesson starts with lead-in-activity to set the context and get students engaged. The TTT format is used to introduce the target grammar followed by a free practice speaking activity

Procedure

Lead- in (5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher asks students to give examples of some activities that have done before now. e.g I have already visited Ankara Or something that has not happened yet, but will probably happen. E.g I haven't finished my assignment yet.

Test 1 (10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

Give students a short test on the present perfect with 'already' and 'yet' Students work individually Monitor to know which points needed to explained Students check each other's answers Give feedback

Teach (10 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

Elicit the target language that the students have difficulty with. Highlight the form of the present simple with already and yet. Clarify the meaning of already and yet Use CCQs to avoid any confusion Highlight the use of 'already' and 'yet'

Test #2 (5 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

Administer another test to the students. Ss work individually and then practice pair correction. Give feedback

Free practice (15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Ss work in groups. In each group , students discuss true things about themselves using the target language. Students will given speaking prompts to talk about things they have already done or haven't done yet.
