In this lesson, Ss will be given the opportunity to read a magazine article about men and crying for gist and detailed understanding. Then students
will respond to the text by discussing some questions in pairs.

Main Aims

To enable students to develop their reading skills for gist and detailed understanding in the context of a magazine article which is about men and crying.
Subsidiary Aims

To enable Ss to develop their speaking skills by interviewing each other about crying and discussing their ideas with the class.
Procedure (35-43 minutes)
Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students in the lesson topic.
Show Ss the pictures and ask What are they doing? How do they feel? Why do men cry? Ss discuss in pairs. Write the answers on the board.
Pre-Reading (4 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible
Give Ss the article. Tell them to find their ideas in the text in pairs.
While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks
Give Ss the titles. Choose the best title.
While-Reading/Listening #2 (10-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned
