Description

In this lesson student will practice and review car vocabulary based on a worksheet through various activities. It is also an opportunity for some students who already knows some of the vocabulary will reinforce their vocabulary. many words will be elicited and form and pronunciation will be clarified. As the warm-up session the lesson will start with the session of pre-teaching vocabulary related to car to set the lesson context and engage students to the topic. the students will deal and exposed to the target vocabulary with practice car vocabulary with gap-fill exercises and matching task to practice learned vocabulary. Finally, students will practice car vocabulary in a freer practice. No feedback will be given. Then necessary vocabulary will be taught by eliciting,checking,drilling and writing sessions. In drilling, the focus will be on "word stress".

Procedure

Pre-teach vocabulary (3-4 minutes) • To set the lesson context and engage students to the topic ''car enterior''

In this stage, Students will be taught new vocabulary by the use of various body movements. Teacher will hardly try to get students to elicit different internal parts of a car. Teacher will tell students 'now i want to drive a car, can anyone guess what i am holding with my hands' then 'i have to control the car and sometime i need to change my direction so i turn the steering wheel' then 'i am on the road so i need to speed up, what should i do?' then 'first i press the accelerator but if it does not work i have to press down or hold down the clutch pedal and change the gear to second or third at the same time' then 'gear stick' then 'can you tell me how many pedals do we have and what do they do?'

Presentation of Vocabulary "car interior" (5-6 minutes) • To teach new vocabulary and prepare students for an exercise

Draw a picture and elicit vocabulary. Elicit, drill and show its written form. nouns: steering wheel, gear stick, seats, rear-view mirror, pedals as well as accelerator and brake and clutch, car radio, dashboard, seat belt and so on.

Controlled Practice (2-3 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students will then do a matching exercise whose aim is to ensure that all Students understand the meaning of the vocabulary. They will work as individuals, and then in pair work, and then we will check the answers.

In this stage, Students will be taught new vocabulary by the use of a toy car. Teacher will hardly try to get students to elicit different external parts of a car. Teacher will tell students 'now what can you see?, what are these?, they are wheels with tyres' then 'we have roof which can be convertible' then 'we have bonnet that covers the engine and boot to store our equipments'

Presentation of Vocabulary "car exterior" (5-6 minutes) • To teach new vocabulary and prepare students for an exercise

The teacher will draw a picture and elicit vocabulary. Elicit, drill and show its written form. nouns: wheels, tyres,door, roof, bonnet, boot, windscreen, windscreen wiper, handle, head lights and rear lights, side mirror, bumper and so on.
