Procedure (42-45 minutes)
> Project image: A typical city center street - and Words: Places and Things: buildings, river, car, dogs, airport, bicycles, park, people, trees > Ss talk about the Pic in pairs with your partners. Use: There is/are ........ > Monitor if they use Negative (-) sentences --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Then Elicit with pointing: (+) > Point to bus and see what S says - Tell me a sentence for bus > Point to buildings and see what S says - Tell me a sentence for (elicit with fingers some) building There is .............. There are .............. (-) > Point to a river and see what S says - Tell me a sentence for river > Point to dogs and see what S says - Tell me a sentence for (elicit negative any) dogs > Point to Trees and see what S says - Tell me a sentence for (any)Trees There isn't a .............. There aren't any .............. Maybe: Tell me a (+) and a (-) sentence > There are ...people... but... there aren't any ...dogs...(make it longer) in the street/city. (?) Elicit the Question? Example 1 - There is a bank but there isn't a post office.

Example: 1. a supermarket There isn't a supermarket near ITI. 2. a shopping centre 3. a market 4. any museums 5. a park 6. a square 7. any nice cafes 8, a lot of old houses b. Work in pairs. (4) Ex.8 - 5mins Look at a Picture of a house with words around it (a cinema, hotels etc) 13 in total. Write 8 questions to ask another student about places near his/ her home.
