To provide practice and review of language used for surveys in the context of personal activities and interests.
Subsidiary Aims

To provide gist reading practice using a text about abilities in the context of a school survey.

To provide product writing practice of short sentences in the context of students' personal interests.

To provide gist listening practice using a text about abilities in the context of a school survey.

To provide accuracy speaking practice in an interview in the context of a school survey.
Procedure (27-37 minutes)
T draws(family/pictogram, history/timeline) and mimes(skydiving) his favourite activities and interests. S guess what these activities are.
S do exercise 4 on their own and match written activities/interests with the corresponding pictures. The pictures and the matching descriptions will be handed out as a puzzle and peer reviewed before cheking answers in class.
T explains the meaning of a survey. S read the survey for gist and discuss what this survey is about in pairs before comparing results in class.
S listen to the recording and tick the applicable boxes. S listen to the recording again and check their answers. S discuss their answers in pairs before they will listen again and discuss answers is class.
S write several true sentences about Jack. Numbers will vary according to their personal level. S write true sentences about themselves; again numbers will vary according to their personal level. This tage will include some flexitime, where students are supposed to draw or mime their favourite interests or activities which the others have to guess. This information can be included to construct new senteces.
S create their own survey and interview other students (or teachers for the advanced S if only a few students show up) and present their findings in class.
