Description

In this session students learn about some voacabulary and idioms about Health. Ss's attention will be drawn to the TL, through some vocabulary activities then through a listening task.Students try to find the meaning of vocabulary by themselves then the teacher will clarify the meaning,form and pronounciation.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-7 minutes) • To generate interest in the topic of the lesson

T welcomes the Ss. T shows some pictures and visuals related to health on the board. Ss look at the pictures on the board.. Ss work in pairs and try to guess the topic of the lesson Ss share their ideas with the WC.

Pre-Teach vocabulary/clarification of the meaning (4-7 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first task

T write some vocabulary related to health on the board. T asks the Ss if they know about the words. Ss may not know the meaning of the words T explains the meaning,form and the pronounciation

gist activity (2-4 minutes) • to predict the main idea of the listening task

T writes 2 sentences on the board T tells the Ss to read the sentences silently and quickly Ss read the sentences T tells the Ss that they will listen to the audio for 2mn then choose the main aim of the listening audio then choose one answer from the sentences on the board T plays a small part of the listening audio for 2 mintues. Ss listen the audio for gist then choose one answer.

Controlled practice/vocabulary task (5-7 minutes) • To gauge students' knowledge of the target language

T sets the task about the health idioms. Ss will work alone. Ss checks their answers in pairs T monitors the class T gives the Ss the answer key Students check their answers with the one on the answer key.

Listening practice (6-8 minutes) • To listen for specfic information

T instructs the Ss about the next listening activity. T plays the audio Ss work alone . T monitors T plays the audio again if the Ss can't cope with it. Ss checks their answers with thier pairs T provided thsy key answer on the board Ss check their answers with the answers on the board

Practice (2-5 minutes) • Further practice of vocabulary

T sets the activity p78 T instructs the Ss about the task T checks if the Ss understand the task Ss work in pairs depending on the number of the students* T gives the answer key Ss check their answers with the one on the answer key

Free practice/spseakingactivity (2-10 minutes) • To provide students with a speaking task

T sets the task T posts some some sentences on the wall anout the TL. T instructs the Ss about the task T cheks if the students get it right Ss work in pairs/ groups Ss tand up and move around Ss read the sentences and discuss their opinions with a partner then swap the sentences and the group T monitors and takes notes Ss corrects the Ss' errors if there is any.
