To provide clarification of irregular forms of simple past that will be in the reading text in the context of art
Procedure (48-58 minutes)
- T presents Ss a PPP about art and "Jackson Pollock" - Using PPP T introduces and elicits thoughts from Ss about TL that will be in reading - Modern Art - Antique Art - Art Expert - Art Gallery - Colorful
- T gives Ss the text to skim through briefly. - Ss are put into groups and given 6 cut outs of the texts. - 6 pictures that describe the scene in the text are placed around in the room - In pairs the Ss will match the text with the pictures in the room.
- Alone Ss will read the story again after they will be given a HO - In pairs Ss will answer True/False HO - T will give a written example of what Ss should do - T will write an incorrect sentence on the board and ask the Ss if T/F and he/she will correct sentence. - After Ss are done HO , T will display Qs on board 1 by 1 - If true Ss do nothing - if false Ss will come to WB and make corrections
- T reminds students of yesterdays lesson on present simple past - T put Ss in pairs and has them scan through text and underline any present simple past tense verbs they may see. - T will present students with HO for students to check Ss knowledge of irregular simple past verbs. T presents answer key on PPP and goes over any errors or questions Ss may have
- T will put Ss into groups. - Each student will be given a picture and will have to describe the picture in 3 to 5 sentences - The groups will post the pictures and the sentences around the room. - The groups will go around and read each sentence and determine which picture description they like the most - the teacher will monitor and read the Ss sentences and take note of any errors - T will put incorrect sentences on the board and ask Ss to make any corrections
