Description

In this lesson, Students will learn the adverbs of frequency by guided lesson format and they will work in pairs or in groups according to the activities.

Main Aims

  • To teach the adverbs of frequency in the context of Grammar

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide the students with the chance to speak and produce the target language

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-10 minutes) • To set the lesson context and engage the students

-Ask Ss to look at the four photos and ask them to ask you wh-questions about photos * Where * What * How often * When

Eliciting Grammar Rules (5-6 minutes) • To encourage students to build on what they knew

Unit 5. Grammar -Ask Ss to look at the sentences from the previous exercise and underline the adverbs of frequency - Draw a scale with one end marked Very frequent and one marked Not frequent. -Ask Ss the position of the adverb and if they notice anything different about the example number 1 -

Reading for gist (3-5 minutes) • To set the context for the reading

-Ask Ss individually to read the text quickly -Ask them what is text about -Let them do some task with Ex.1 individually

While-Teaching (6-8 minutes) • To encourage Ss to practice with the adverbs of frequency

-Ask Ss to read the text carefully and answer the T/F questions then Unit 5 ,Grammar,pg.59 -Ask Ss to read the grammar note given to each student. -Ask Ss to note down "How many days a week they watch the news on TV -To check students`understanding of the meaning of the adverbs -Ask them to match a sentence on the left with one on the right. -Check the exercise and ask Ss to make a sentence about how often they watch the news.

Controlled Practice (7-10 minutes) • To get Ss to do the task efficiently according to the adverbs

Unit 5.pg.59,ex.2 - Ask Ss to add frequency adverbs to these sentences individually so they are true for them or their country. - To do the first sentence on the WB as an example about myself: *I sometimes watch an American series on TV. - Ask Ss in pairs to compare their sentences - If time allows ,elicit additional questions students can ask to follow up each statement. - Ask Ss to answer the questions such as *which series do you watch ? how often ? *Which films do you watch with your friends ? how often ? *When do you watch the news ? how often *What documanteries do you watch ? how often ? *How often are footbal games on TV on Wednesday nights? -Tell Ss to have enough chance to speak these questions in pairs

Postteaching:Freer Practice (Speaking) (8-10 minutes) • To give Ss the chance to produce some sentences in the context

-Unit 5 pg.59 ex.1/3 speaking, - Tell Ss to look at the photo on their hand and ask a few students to describe the picture -Ask Ss if this is a typical scene in their country or how it is different from the way people in their country watch TV. - Ask Ss in pairs to prepare a questionnaire/survey aboutTV watching -Give them HOs to do that task in pairs. -In Ex.3 speaking. -Ask Ss to rewrite the sentences with the frequency adverbs in the brackets -If the time allows I ask Ss to correct the mistakes on the HOs individually and ask them to compare their answers with partnes
