To provide gist, scan and detailed reading using a text entitled the" Girl with a Pearl Earring" in the context of Art

To provide partice and review of some vocabulary related to the theme of Art through speaking
Procedure (15-38 minutes)
T welcome the Students and introduce himself/herself to the students. T get to know the Ss' names. T shows a picture on the board:Painting /Portrait named: "A Girl with a Pearl Earring."(without showing the title of the portrait under the picture) T aks the Ss to discuss in pairs :what does the picture show?/how do they describe the personality of the girl in the portrait... Ss disuss hier answers with their pairs: Brainstrorming about the context of the lesson.
T gives the students a matching-defintions handout.The HO contains some words extratcted from the reading-text material p50 . Ss will work in pairs and try to find the right defintions of the words T shows answers on the board. T chooses 2 words from the matching-activiy,clarify the meaning,form and pronounciation to students. T drills the words then the WC drill the words.
T writes two clue sentences on the board about the possible main idea of the text. T hands the Ss with the extracts of the reading text on a Ho. T aks the students to quickly the text then come up with the main idea.Ss will work alone T feedbacks on the task.
T sets the matching task on page 50-51 then hands the sheets to the Ss. Ss have to read and match the extracts(1-4) to the events (a-d). T tells the Sst Ss work alone then check their answers in pairs. T monitors the class T hands the key answsrs to the Ss. T tells the Ss to check if they answered correctly.
T sets and instructs the students about the Art gallery activity T models some sentences /gives some prons/questions to guide them about the language to use in the activity T asks the Ss to work in pairs or groups depends of the number of the students. T takes the students to Art gallery outside the classroom. Ss sawp the groups/ pictures with another group then share and discuss their work with the WC. T monitors the classroom and checks if they are errors to be corrected .
