Daily Routines
Beginner level

Description

This lesson focuses on vocabulary to talk about daily routines, and using the present simple in the first and third person. Ss will review telling the time in English. Language to describe routine activities will then be introduced, and students will answer questions about their own daily routines and find out about their classmates’ routines.

Main Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of daily routines

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide vocabulary practice in the context of daily routines

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- I will write 3 facts about myself (two of them will be true) and have Ss guess which one is fiction. -I will ask them to work in pairs. -Each student will write 3 sentences about his/her habit. -They will try to guess which one is fiction.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks

-I will show them questionnaire and try to explain the meaning of questionnaire if they get confused. -Then I will ask the first question as an example and ask them to raise their hands(always, usually,sometimes,never) -I will give them only one minute to scan the questions. -They will work in pairs ask questions and write his/her partner's answers on his/her own book.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

-First , I will ask them about their daily routine ( give an example) -Then I will show them the Ppt(daily routines) and they will try to say what is that, if they have no idea I will show them the verb. -Drill the pronunciation. -Give them HOs(Daily routines matching exercise) -Pair Correction -Show them the answer key on the board -Monitor to check if they understood. -Give feedback.

Productive Task(s) (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice TL

- Give the instructions( They are going to work as a group, give fruit name to Ss and have them come together) - Give them the colored paper with clock and daily routine activities on it - Ss will try to talk about their daily routines through sticking the related picture on the clock one by one.( I always get up at 9.)

Back-up (Freer Activity) (8-10 minutes) • Helping the students enhance their speaking ability letting them share their ideas.

-Give the instructions and ask them to work as a group -I will give them 3 colored cards(yellow,green,red)with some daily routines questions on it(........your mother...........cook? They need to fill in the blanks) and a dice with numbers and colors on it -Student A will throw the dice and to decide the question. -She will read ask the question to the students who is sitting next to him/her. -I will monitor them and give immediate feedback.
