Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will ask Ss to tell me what's my job? Tell them they might not know what I do in my free time, but encourage them to guess what I do in my free time. Any activities they can think of. Write all these free time activities vocabs on the board, then tell them what I actually do in my free time. Direct them to change seats. Name Ss A and B in the room, Work in pairs, ask A to guess what his/her partner do in his/her free time, B can only say YES/NO. Then I will stop again and ask B to guess what his/her partner do in his/her free time. Again A can only answer Y/N. Ask a few Ss to tell me one new activity that his/her partner does in his/her free time which are not on the board. Then write it on the board, spot the ones that are new or difficult for Ss to pronounce then drill them. Remind: If no Ss mention take photos and go skiing, I will add it to the board to remind Ss. -Because they will hear it in the 3rd listening task and will need to know it.

Pre-Reading/Listening (3-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Ask them to pair check their answers. Answer key on the board , W/C can check their answers and make corrections. Pull the picture out on page 30 in Stu wkbk again and ask: Ask them: -By looking at the pic, do you know what Paul does in in his free time? -SO work together in pairs and take a guess of what Paul does in his free time. Write it down to remind you. A HO with variety of free time activities will be given out to help them. ICQs Do you work in pair or alone? - Pair - Are you guessing what Paul does in his free time?
