(You might like to find one or two information about the people in the pictures and share it with your students if they don't tell you first. - What you can say about the picture? - Do you know who are they? What are their achievements? - Do you think their achievements made a difference to people's lives?

Lead - in (8-10 minutes) • To encourage Ss to talk about an achievement they find amazing. Also to practice their listening skills.

Set the activity, ex. 1, page 56. Do the first example with the class. Put the Ss in pairs and allow time to do the activity. Monitor and help if necessary. - Ask the Ss work in groups. Read the list of achievements from the book and students will think of an example for each. - Pass the HO's for Ss to read and think of possible answers. Ask Ss to move around and compare answers. Tell them to change their answers if they hear a better one. Then put Ss back in their groups and ask them to discuss the question in ex. 2. Monitor and help if necessary.

Listening for detail (5-8 minutes) • To train students to listen for detail

Ask Ss to read the questions in ex.3, page 56. Play the recording an remind Ss they don't need to write full sentences. Pause after each speaker. After about 5 minutes draw Ss attention to useful language and go over useful phrases and encourage them to add and use the phrases in their story. - Students will going to talk about an achievement they find amazing. Either choose from the ideas that has been discussed in the preparation stage. Or think of an idea of their own. It could be the achievement of someone they know personally, rather than a great leader/ writer etc. Change pairs making sure every Ss will hear a new story. Get Ss to listen to each other's achievement story and encourage them to ask further questions. - This stage will encourage interaction among the students. They are given a chance to talk with each other and discuss their answers. - Encourage Ss to express their opinion. - Monitor and help if necessary.
