Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of jobs titles in the context of personal information

  • To provide clarification and practice of language used for negation in the context of jobs

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

. reintroduce myself like name and country by eliciting the answers from them . set the context by asking about my job . ask about their jobs . review his/ her by asking abouttheir jobs and then having them answer about each others' jobs

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

. have them guess the jobs in the pictures on pg. 18 . give groups of 2 a set of the pictures and jobs titles to match . correct on the board by matching again with the class as a whole . drill by listening to 3.1 and having them repeat

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

. after they match on the board, model on the board 'what's her job? what's his job?' with the new jobs . in pairs, Ss practice the questions with their handouts . T provides aid and correction while walking around

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

. semi-controlled practice by asking Ss individually to state their jobs 'I am a ........ .' . drill the questions 'what's her job? what's his job? by having them repeat after the listening 3.2

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

controlled practice; . yes/no questions to CCQ ' Is she a teacher? Is he a student?' and elicit 'yes,she is a teacher or no, she isn't a teacher' . CCQ by listening to 3.3 and having them repeat . CCQ by Ss asking other Ss next to them
