To introduce possessive 's in the context of families and to help SS distinguish between this and apostrophe 's in other contractions.

Procedure (38-52 minutes)
-Demonstrate (The Robinsons family tree) picture. - Have SS divided into pairs trying to make sentences about the family relationship in the picture. - Elicit one sentence at least from each group. - Write the some of the produced possessive 's sentences on the W/b **Some expected sentences: Bill is Pat's husband. Max is Sally's father. Lisa is Emma's mother.
-Give SS a HO with ex1. - SS will do the ex individually, then check with their pair and give FB to T. - Get SS Attention to one sentence, elicit what dose 's mean, then elicit other sentences with contractions. - write three differente 's sentences on w/b. - SS will guess what does 's in each sentence stands for. - present ex2 which SS will do it in pairs. -T will give FB
- Hand SS the ex3 Ho. - Ask SS to do only part a then ICQ that, - SS will do the ex individually, check in pairs, then give FB on the w/b. -Ask SS to do part b on the same HO, then give FB on the w/b.
-SS will see three pics of Kate's family in ex4, they will ,in pairs, make guesses about the people in the pic as stated in part a -SS will listen to the audio file and check there answers. - The T will ask the SS to put the Pics in the correct order mentioned in the audio - part b- T will give FB - SS will do part c individually as they can remember from the audio, then check in pairs. - FB will be done by the T with the audio.
-T will hand in a family tree template to be filled with the SS. -SS will write their family members names then swap papers with their pairs. -SS will ask each other questions about the family members. Expected questions: Who is .....? Is he/she married? What is his/her job? How old is he/she?
