By the end of the lesson students will have had practice reading and speaking in the context of reading texts and grammar exercises on ability and possibility.
Subsidiary Aims

To practice speaking in the context of questions about abilities and possibilities.
Procedure (21-32 minutes)
I will tell ss about myself,that i am married,I have a work,I am a doctoral student and elicit the words;success,failure,successful,unsuccessful,succeed and fail. I will ask ss :Have you ever tried to learn to do something e.g.to learn a sport or to learn to play a piano and not succeeded? I'll show ss on the screen the first half of a well-known saying and ask then to work in pairs and discuss and find the second half of saying. I'll ask:Which do you think is the real saying? Which do you think is the best advice?
Then elicit modal verb-can-by showing them a picture an the screen. After it I'll show them the second picture and elicit -could. Then I'll ask to tell me the other form of -can. be able to I'll ask ss to read quickly the text and match pictures and text. check answers with a partner. After matching the text they 'll read the text again and complete the text with the phrases. Again check answers with a partner . I'll ask students question about the text for feedback.
I'll give ss grammar exercise and they will fill the gaps.First they will check answers with a partnet and then with the help of a key.
Can you .....? Play a musical instrument? ski? cook? swim? sail? sing? ride a horde? speak foreign language? drive? dance salsa? cook? Answers:yes,I can.No,I can't.
Plan-B If I have time,I'll ask ss :what is unusual about the two women? then I'll give ss to read the text and fill the chart.Then I'll ask questions about the text.
