Bu the end of this lesson students will have practiced reading for gist, specific information and details in the context of judging by appearances.

To provide controlled and freer practice of new vocabulary.
Procedure (28-43 minutes)
T will great ss and introduce himself. T will ask: Look at me. How do I look? What do I look like? Do I look like a teacher? Did I look like this yesterday? What am I wearing? What color is my hair? Is it long? Am I tall? What are we talking about? Appearance. How can I compare my present appearance with appearance in the past? Look at the screen. What can you see? Pictures. Are they different? What's the difference? Age. Passport.
T will elicit (or teach) new vocabulary from the first paragraph. RESEARCH EMBRRASSED CELEBRITIES
T will distribute handouts with text. T: Take one and pass the rest. Put the HO on the desks face down. Don't read it yet! This text is about a research. You need to find the name of the company that did the research. You are going to read only first paragraph quickly. You have only 30 seconds. ICQs: Are you going to write? Are you going to listen? Are you going to read the whole text? What do you need to find from the text? Are you going to have 1 hour for doing the task? GO! Now in pairs tell each other what's the company name.
T: Now you are going to read the same text again. Read carefully this time. You need to find countries and nationalities mentioned in the text and underline them. You have 2 minutes. Wait! ICQs: Are you going to write? Are you going to read the whole text? What do you need to find from the text? Circle or underline? What about the time? GO! Working in groups of 3 compare and discuss your answers. T will collect feedback on the board.

T: You are going to read the rest of the article. Read carefully. Find highlighted words and under line their meaning in the second section. (Demonstration) You have 3 minutes. ICQs: Are you going to read? Are you going to write? Are young to tick or underline? Time? GO! Work in pairs. Check your partners answers. They are on the screen. Depending on time I'd like to skip this activity or do at the end of the lesson.

T will distribute handouts with some pictures of random people. T: Work in pairs. Sit back to back. (T will give ss letters: A&B e.g.) Student A, take the picture. Using new vocabulary, describe the person on the picture to Student B. You have 1 minute. Now SS A, stand up, take your picture and go to the next spot. You have another partner now. Give the picture to SS B. Now SS B will describe people on the pictures to SS A. You have another minute. ICQs
T will provide some scrap paper, ask SS to write 5 sentences describing themselves. 2 minutes. ICQs T will collect it back and put it in a box. Randomly nominated SS will pull a piece of paper from the box, read the description of a 'robber', and the whole class will try to find him/her.
