Procedure (45-60 minutes)
Show the picture of holiday, ask questions to elicit the words 'advice, weather, outskirts, luggage' like "What are your holiday plans for summer? Did you ask your friends for advice? Did you check the weather? How is the city center and out of the center; outskirts?.."
Show students the handout and ask them to complete exercise 1 individually. Then Ss check with their partners, elicit the answers and show then on the board. If needed clarify the mistakes.
Ask Ss to listen and repeat the sentence rhythm. Then ask whether the words in bold are countable or uncountable. elicit or clarify that they are uncountable, but 'glass' can be both countable and uncountable in different meanings.
Show the chart on the HO, ask them to complete the chart with their partners(The words will be used in the next stages). Give them time and monitor. When they complete the chart, change their partners and ask them to check and discuss about their charts (peer-teaching). Show the answers on the board, explain the needed words, especially the words which are both countable and uncountable; explain that their meanings change and clarify the meanings.
Ask students to read the sentences on ther HO, if the sentences are correct, tick; if wrong, correct the sentences individually without looking at the chart. When they complete ask them to check with their partners. Then elicit the answers on the board, clarify if needed.
-Considering the time and freer activity, this stage may be skipped.- Ask students to look at the sentences in part 5, circle the correct words, if both are correct, then tick the sentence. Ask them to work individually. When they complete, ask them to check with their partners. Show the answers on the board. Explain if needed, clarify thet "crew" can be singular or plural, it refers to a group of people.
This is an oral grammar practice activity. There are some specific headings including the nouns Ss studied in this lesson. Ss work in pairs; 1 person from each pair will start talking about the topic for a minute without drying up more than 5 seconds. If the student dries up, the other one continues speaking. After a minute, they start to talk about another topic. During the activity monitor and take notes for the feedback & error correction. When everyone speak at least three times, stop the activity, ask for the results who spoke most. Give feedbak, correct the mistakes.
