Speaking:Ss will have a mingle activity to ask each other about things that didn't happen yesterday then report them to the class with focus on accuracy rather than fluency.
Procedure (38-45 minutes)
T shows photos of Nancy,Jeff and Bob&Liz with different pictures of Blue Mosque, hotel, beach, and China.T divides Ss into three groups(according to the n.of students) asking each group to guess the connection between people and places.Ss work in pairs.T asks Ss about their guessing.
T then hands out a text to each group in order to find out whether their guessing was true or not. T elicits :Did Nancy stay in a hotel?-No,she didn't stay in a hotel. T:Did Jeff go swimming in Colombia last year?-No,he didn't go swimming last year. T:Did Bob and Liz go on holiday last year?-no they didn't go on holiday.T then writes the answers on the left part of the WB. T tells Ss that Nancy had an interview about her holiday last year and sticks her answers on the board then gives Ss the questions and asks them to match questions to answers on the WB.T then highlight one model sentence of each type and writes them on the right part of WB e.g.: Where did you go on holiday last year? Did you stay in a hotel?-no,I didn't. Did you visit the Blue Mosque?-yes,I did.
T highlights:on the left part She didn't stay in a hotel.(regular v.) He didn't go swimming.(irregular v.) Subject(I,he,she,it,we,you, they) + didn't(did not) +Base form verb T elicits:can we use didn't with all subjects?-yes can we use it with all verbs?no-(except to be:wasn't-weren't). didn't :for speaking and writing and more common. watch out for:she didn't stayed-he not went swimming. (Jim Scrivener tip):p.146,Teaching English grammar. T drills the pronunciation T then highlights on the right part of the WB: The questions will be the sentence models: -where did you go on holiday last year? Meaning:CCQs Was she on holiday last year? yes Is she now on holiday? no Form :Q.w (wh-questions)+ did +subject ( all)+base form verb...? Did she stay in a hotel?-no , she didn't. Did she visit the Blue Mosque?-yes,she did. Meaning:Was she in a hotel? no Was she in the Blue Mosque? yes Form: Did + subject (all)+ base form verb..? yes/no +subject(all)+did/didn't T.then drill for the pronunciation.
