Description

In this lesson ss will practice speaking with the use of possessive adjectives in the context of describing family and friends.

Materials

Abc White board, markers, Computer screen, Answer Keys

Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson ss will have practiced controlled speaking with the use of possessive adjectives in the context of describing family and friends

Subsidiary Aims

  • To practice/ revise " Wh" question forms

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (0-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Teacher exposes the topic and set the stage for an question and answer session where SS ask teacher the questions on the screen and teacher answers them.

Interactivity (2-5 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through speaking

teacher asks students to ask their classmates (in Pairs) such questions as they asked the teacher earlier and take notes if possible.

Useful Language (3-5 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

SS are reminded of the possessive adjectives and pronouns they learnt earlier and are encouraged to use them while speaking. examples are given and ss are given exercises to ensure they have mastered their knowledge.

Productive Task(s) (5-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

ss are in turn invited to seat on the hot seat to be interviewed the same way the teacher was at first in quick successions.

Feedback and Error Correction (2-3 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Here teacher will take notes of students errors while speaking and try to correct them.

Useful Language (1-3 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Try to illicit names of professions from SS through miming or explanation, then the words are written on the board to get the SS ready for the last task.

Productive Task(s) (3-7 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Teacher shows ss pictures of actors and musicians local and foreign and ask them to tell their names, what they do and where they are from.

Summary (1-2 minutes) • Assess ss mastery of the lesson

Teacher ask SS several questions to see if their recall all that was practiced in the lesson
