Procedure (36-50 minutes)
I will hold a picture of a pencil , show it to ss and will ask ss " what can you see here? I will elicit answers from ss. Then I will show ss a picture of a pencil pasted on the wall and will ask them" what can you see there? I will elicit answers from ss.
I will hold the picture of a pencil in my hand and will ask them "Is the picture near or far?" I will use the body language to clarify the meanings of far and near. I will elicit answers from ss. I will point to the picture of a pencil pasted on the wall and will ask them "Is the picture near or far?" I will elicit answers from ss. I will what do we use with near and with far things. I will elicit answers from ss. I will do the same with the rest of the pictures. I will ask ss some CCQs. Do we use this for far things? No Do we use this for near things? Yes. Do we use that for near things? No Do we use that for far things? Yes. I will write the target language on the board and will pronounce it with the ss. Ss will drill the target language (whole class/ groups/ individuals).
I will give ss an exercise to complete using this or that. I will divide the class into small groups. I will give them the following instructions. Are you going to work alone?No Are you going to work in groups? Yes Are you going to fill in the gaps using this or that? Yes. I will monitor to check that ss are on the right track and to provide any help if necessary. Ss will check the key answer on the back of the exercise.
I will provide each pair with three pictures in their hands meanwhile other copies of these pictures will be pasted on the wall away from them. In each pair, student A will hold a picture in his hand and show it to B asking him" What is this?" .Student B will answer. Then Student A will ask student B about the same picture pasted on the wall using" What is that?" Student B will answer. Then, they will change roles. I will monitor and provide help if necessary.

I will divide the class into groups. I will give each group four questions written on separate paper. The question are : What is this? /What is that? /What are these? / What are those? I will show ss a picture on the power point presentation ans ss will show me what the suitable question is. I will be a competition. Each group will take its turn and the winner will be the group with the most answers.
