Give them the words and idioms "dwell on, survey, lay the blame at sb else's door and getting on the property ladder". Write the words and idioms one by one on the board and ask Ss if they know the meaning or not, elicit the answers and write on the board. Drill for pronunciation.
Show Ss the sheet, say thay they'll read about an article about what people regret in life. Ask them to fold the paper and comlete part a with their partners; decide whether the sentences are true or not. Distribute the handouts, monitor them and elicit their answers, but don't give the correct answers. While they are discussing, open Frank Sinatra - My Way song.
Ask Ss to read the first part of the reading text and check their answer for part a with their partners. While eliciting the answers ask why the sentences are true or false. Project the HO on WB and show the correct answers in the text.
Ask Ss to fold their sheets again and complete part c individually. Then ask the to check with their partners, they can check from the text as well. Then ask for the answers and let them write the answers on the board.
Ask Ss to read the last part of the text; top 20 regrets. Remind them that they are not in order and ask them to make a list on what they think the top five regrets were in the survey, part c. Ss work in pairs. Give them time, monitor them and then elicit the asnwers.
Ask them to listen and check their list. Ss check in pairs and let them listen again. Then ask how many did they get right? What are they? Write the correct answers on HO projected on the board. If time permits, ask 'Which do you think would be the top regrets in your age group?' Ss discuss in pairs, then discuss as a whole class.
