Main Aims

• To provide the students with opportunity to practise their receptive skills in reading for details in the context of " What's Cooking", through guided discover and controlled practice.
Subsidiary Aims
-
• To provide practice using vocabulary related to "Home Cooking" in the context What's Cooking , and encourage the students to speak for fluency.
Procedure (39-45 minutes)
---------------- Hand Out One------------- - Pair the students. - Give each students a copy of HO1. - work with your partner . - Read the cartoon, and try to imagine the situation first. - Then Answer the questions below Ex A. ( 4-5 MIN) Feedback: Students to tell the story in the pictures. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Next: -Pair the students . - Ask and answer the questions In Ex B.
----------------Hand Out Two----------------------------- - Tell the students we are going to read a text but before that: - Give each students a copy of hand out 2 . - ask the students to guess the answers to the questions. - Students to work on their own and then check their answers with their partners. Feedback; as each group for their answers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Next : Give each students a copy of HO 3 ( THE TEXT). -Ask them to skim read the text, and think about their guess earlier. Feedback: Students to give the answers
------------------Hand Out 4------------------- Ask the Ss to read the text again but this time more carefully and Answer the questions in Hand Out 4. 1- Circle the main idea. 2 - Are these sentences True? Students to work in pairs . ICQ: Ask the students for the clues from the reading that helped them answer the questions. Feedback: give the answer sheet to the students.
Write on the white board: Many people do not cook because they are busy. How dose that change their lives? -Divide the class into 2 groups. - Students to discuss the question. Monitor the students. If they stopped talking , give the some ideas such as ( increase in weight) ( its expensive to eat out)
Divide the class into two groups : Discuss the question: Would you go to convenience store or use a computer to buy meals ? why or why not?
