Description

In this lesson students are going to review first conditional and learn how to give advice. they are going to have some controlled practice and matching activity. finally the will have freer practice.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will stick the pic on the board. explaining she is my friend and she wanted to go abroad and study but recently a boy felt madly in love with her. actually he is very honest and a good boy but he cant leave Iran. by the way he is 2 years younger than my friend. Instruction: discuss with your friend what is going to happen in both choices?

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

debate ask SS who agrees the marriage and who agrees abroad? put them in 2 group. one group favors the marriage and the other group favours studying abroad.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

elicit the target language from the students and write some on the board.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

CCQs: If she goes abroad, she will be happier. 1- will she go abroad? maybe 2- are we sure? no 3- is it possible for her to go? yes do we talk bout possible or impossible action in the future? possible 4- how many parts do u see in this sentence? 2 ( elicit if clause and main clause structure and comma) can i use can or might instead of will? yes FOR wHICH OF THESE do we use first conditional? all of them A) for advice B) predict future C) threaten D) offer/ promise ask ss some examples for each function ask them to repeat and draw ss attention to the pronunciation features

PUT IT ALL TOGETHER write some first conditional clauses and separate them, shuffle. other ss match.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

suggestions for someone who is going to live with your family for a while. 2- anxiety role play: Student A: you are an adventurous person. choose sth to do or a place to visit. Student B: you are anxious and worried.ask some questions about student's A sentence. modeling: I am going to take photos of wild animals. Ss B: What will happen if they see u?
