Main Aims
-
Reading for gist and detail in the context of daily life
Subsidiary Aims
-
Vocabulary for daily routines
Procedure (45-59 minutes)
I will play hangman with "daily routines", then explain the word "daily" using an example such as the act of going to sleep. Students will then be asked to work in pairs and write examples of daily routines.
Students will be placed in small groups and asked to match cards with common daily routines vocabulary taken from exercise 1a on p 22 of the student book with pictures on the wall. They will then be asked to match the vocabulary with times of day in an exercise. If enough time remains they will be asked to work exercise 1a from p 14 of the workbook.
Students will be focused on the pictures in the text and key vocabulary will be explained.
Students will be asked to work in pairs and make guesses about what actors do in their daily routine. They will then be given enough time to scan the text to see if any of their guesses were included in the text.
Students will be given more time to read the text and asked to work in pairs on ex 3 from p 22 of the student's book.
Students will be asked to answer some simple questions about the reading in pairs.
Students will play the game "Taboo" in groups.
