Procedure (41-49 minutes)
T shows Ss pictures of a teacher, a friend, a colleague and a boss. Ask Ss whether they remember the name of their first teacher, friend, colleague or boss. Ask Ss to choose one person from these people and describe him/her to their partners. Pair Ss. Monitor. Then T personalises the topic and tells Ss a memory of him/her about the person who influenced him/her.
Tell Ss they are going to listen to Tara talking about two people who have influenced her. Ask Ss to find who they are.Whole-class feedback.Tell Ss they are going to listen to the audio for a second time. Ask Ss to find how each person influenced Tara. Peer-check. Monitor. Give Ss the script of the audio.
Reflect some sentences from the audio on the board. Work on the highlighted words by eliciting them. Use synonyms to clarify the meaning. Check Ss' understanging by asking CCQs. Give Ss the copy of the slide.
Tell Ss they are going to talk about two people who have influenced them with their partners. These people can be a teacher, a friend, a colleague, a family member or someone famous. Pair Ss. Change pairs to maintain the activity. Monitor and take notes.
