Description

In this current lesson,the students are mainly requested to go through the reading and respond some general questions as soon as they have read it.Additionally, the pupils are going to learn some new and unfamiliar vocabularies(adjectives) through the brief reading section and consequently they are also going to answer a few questions on the basis of the words that they have acquired.Ultimately, they are going to be capable of utilizing them as the L2.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To practice reading for gist and particular data.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Get familiar with some additional words and mainly introduce and practice adjectives.

Procedure

Lead in (1-2 minutes) • Introducing myself

Draw a small star on the WB and ask them can you remember this?(Hamed) Have students answer Write down my name at the center.

Set the context (5-7 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a picture

At the very beginning I am going to pre teach precisely 3 vocabularies(holiday,hospital,couple)through showing them pictures as well as using gesture,CCQs. According to MPF subsequently I will write down the form of the words and drill the pronunciation and even emphasize the stress.CCQs:Do people work when they are on holiday?- No. Do students go to school when they are on holiday?- No. Can people travel at this time ?-Yes. Can people stay at home when they are on holiday?- Yes. Do teachers work in the hospital?-No. Do healthy people go to the hospital?-No. Do sick people work in the hospital?-Yes. Do doctors work in the hospital?- Yes.

Gist Reading (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the reading comprehension

I will stick some papers on the board having the name of cities on them. I am going to write down a general question(Where are they(the couple)right now?)on the WB and ask the students read the short paragraph very quickly(skim)and respond (ICQs)afterwards they are requested to have peer check and ultimately we are going to answer the question together and I will have one of them to grab the right response.ICQs:How much time do you have?-1 minute.Are you going to write down a city or country?-city.

Detailed Reading (5-8 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the reading comprehension for detaild information

I will write down 3 more detailed questions in order to draw their attention to read the paragraph much more assiduously and answer them(ICQs), even I will give them more time.ICQs=How many qs are you going to answer?-3 questions.Are you going to write down your answers or not?-yes. Afterwards they are going to check their answers.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

There is an exercise(8 sentences) on the basis of the paragraph in which they can cooperate more efficiently (Part 2 on page 16 )and they are going to respond the questions in pair (2 by 2) and subsequently they are going to check together.ICQs:How many sentences are you going to answer?-8 question.

Teaching vocabularies(adjectives) (8-12 minutes) • To be capable of using them in a proper way

At the very beginning I am going to teach them the adjectives(fantastic,beautiful,awful)on the basis of MPF through showing them photos and even by explaining the meaning and asking CCQs.We will drill and afterwards when I am going to be absolutely 100 per cent sure that they have comprehended it completely, we are going to have a brief practice for reviewing the adjectives.I will put sticky points having the 3 adjectives on each of them and provide the students some images and ask them to come and pick one and match them with the adjectives.CCQs: Is ‘fantastic’ good or bad?-good. Is ’fantastic’ very good or little good?- very good. Is ‘awful’ good or bad?- bad. Is ‘awful’ very bad or little bad?-Very bad.

Production stage (4-6 minutes) • To be able to produce them properly in a sentence

Eventually I am going to have them written 3 sentences with 3 adjectives I mean each adjective one sentence.Afterwards having them to check their sentences together and subsequently have three of them randomly to write their sentence on the board for error correction.ICQs:How many sentences are you going to write?-3 sentences.Are you going to use adjectives in your sentences?-yes.
