Description

In this lesson students will learn about Wh-questions in the context of using present tense.We will start the lesson with a reading part, following by reading for gist and semi-controled speaking practice. Students will have a game where they will have to unscramble question sentences and write down their answers. They will work as team to spy on someone from ITI center.And finally they will have to write down the questions-answers interview they made and present it as a group to their classmates.

Main Aims

  • To introduce/review and give Ss practice in Present Simple – wh- questions & short answers in the context of who we live with

Subsidiary Aims

  • To give students semi-controlled speaking practice and the opportunity to practice simple present and WH-questions
  • To provide gist and scan reading practice using a text about who we live with

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (8-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will give students a worksheet with letter they have to unscramble and find WH-word. I make a star on the board and write found WH- words on it. Make another star and have student mirror it with what I already did but this time they have to match it with meaning like : reason,general,person,way,place. Students will have to look in a diagram I will give to them for questions done with WH words. They will use the questions to interview someone from the office as groups.

Exposure (4-6 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Students will read the text from the given unit and after we will play a game where I show some information and they have to say the question that gives that answer. It will be played as groups.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Ss will do the exercises 1-2 from book. I will try to highlight the grammatical form using geometrical forms.

Productive Task(s) (10-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Ss will do ex.3 using a table I will write on the board.They will work as a pear to practice questioning each other using target language.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

teacher listens for students errors, writes them on the WB an tries to elicit the correct form or pronunciation. Students will change pairs and tell about their old partner to their new partner.
