To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in group in the context of 'Gifted people'; SS own abilities
Procedure (35-47 minutes)
Teacher will talk about Picasso and Edison's abilities/inabilities to create interest in the topic.
The teacher will give a HO (exercice 5 p84 speakout intermediate students book-Pearson) with different sentences on it.SS have to distinguish if the sentence is either representing a present or past ability. -Once ss checks their answers with their pairs, they will find an answer key under their table.
The teacher will give a HO (p140 speakout intermediate students book-Pearson) with a chart.SS will complete the chart individually with modal verbs (affirmative and negative form present and past) After cheching their answers with their pairs, an AK will be given by the T. Then the teacher will do a drilling of the modal verbs as a whole class activity.
-The teacher will give a HO of a Text about Derek Paravacini (exercice 6 p84 speakout intermediate students book) .SS will complete the blanks in the text with the modal verbs given. -After cheching their answers with other students, the teacher will give an AK.
The teacher will give a HO with some images on it (speakout intermediate students book-Pearson). SS in pairs will put a tick next to the things they can/can't do or they could couldn't do, then tell them to their pairs. as a last activity, ss will do some free speaking practice in groups talking about their abilities/inabilities in the present and past time. In the mean time teacher will take notes monitoring for later correction-feedback.
