Procedure (40-52 minutes)
Put five different pictures of people with tattoos on the board. Pair them up. Ask students their thoughts about the pictures. Also, Do you have a tattoo? Do you like tattoos? Do you know anyone who has a tattoo? Would you like to get a tattoo one day? Students discuss. Take feedback by nominating some students.
Get students to sit in groups of three or four depending on the number of participants. Distribute the cutouts and ask students to match the words with their definitions. When everybody finishes they get up and compare their answers with other groups. Write the answer key on the board. Clarify the meaning of some words if needed. Drill pronunciation.
Distribute the handout from Global elementary course book. In pairs students read the text quickly and match the paragraphs to the headings. (There is one extra heading.) Take feedback by nominating students as there are only four answers. Ask why for their answers for clarification.
Distribute the handouts and ask students to answer the questions about the text on page 106 in Global elementary coursebook in pairs. Take feedback by nominating some students and ask them to point out what part of the text they got the answer from.
Students look at the pictures on page 106. In pairs, they try to match the words with correct numbers from the pictures. Students listen to the audio file 3.47 for answers. Tell students that they are going to listen to five different people. What are they talking about? What parts of the body do they mention? 1. hands 2. arm 3. shoulder 4. back 5. leg Let them listen twice if they look confused Take feedback by nominating
Tell students that they have to get a tattoo. What kind of tattoo will they get? What shape? What color? What part of their bodies do they want their tattoos on? Write two model sentences. I want to get a tattoo of __(a cat)__ on my __(leg)__. I would like to get a tattoo of__(a cat) on my__(leg)__. Can you describe the tattoo? Students get up and tell each other about their tattoos. Students will try to write down the names of students, types of tattoos and what part of their bodies they want their tattoos on. Take feedback by asking students what kind of tattoos do their classmates want.
