Description

In this lesson, students will begin with an introduction for couple vocabularies, after that they will listen to five people answering questions about TV programme, and they will practice gist and detailed listening tasks, and they will discuss their favorite TV programme

Main Aims

  • To provide gist and detailed practice using questions and answers about tv programme

Subsidiary Aims

  • To give the students chance to practice the new words they have learned in the context of tv programme

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will ask the students about who watch the TV these days and ask them to discuss with their partners what they watch on TV. T do a quick feedback

Pre-teach vocabulary (3-5 minutes) • to make sure that they understand the vocabularies in the listening stage.

T write on the board 6 words a film - a sports programme - a comedy programme - a documentary - a TV series - the news T will show the students the images and ask them what is this? and when they say the words T will paste the image under the word that it belong to. T do some drilling on the words if necessary.

Pre-Listening (5-9 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible.

T put Ex3 on the Project and answer one of the sentences to make sure that they understand the Ex T hand them the hand-out and ask them to fold it T monitor and Take WCFB ICQs: Are you going to ask you partner all the question? (no) How many question? (three)

While-Reading/Listening #1 (2-4 minutes) • To provide students with gist listening

T will put the Matching task on projector and tell the students that they should match each speaker to one of these types T answer the first question as an example Check the answers with a partner. Take Feedback by Nominate and write the answers on the board

While-Listening #2 (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with detailed listening Practice.

T Changes the partners T puts Ex3 again on the projector ask the students to unfold the Hand out and look to the board to see how the will do the Ex Replay if necessary T writes the Answers on the board and asks them to check their answers

While-Listening #3 (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with more detailed listening.

T Puts Ex2 on the projector answers the first sentence as an example. Hand them the Hand out and ask them to work in pairs. T writes answers on the board and ask them to check.

Post-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T writes on the board 5 questions: Do you think that television makes people lazy? why? Is TV more of a good thing or more of a bad thing? Do you think there are too many commercials on TV? Can you learn English from watching TV? how? T puts them into 3 or 4 groups and ask them to discuss about those questions
