Teacher will greet students. To setting up the lesson context teacher will be asking :'who likes to travel?' Sts will be engaged by answering the questions. Next questions like 'what do you travel with? bus,plane...anybody have travelled by their motorbike?' Sts will be engaged the context by now. On the WB by Preojector T will show the map highlighting the route between Miami to San Francisco and asking :' What type of problems would you have if you travel on this route by your Motorbike?' İ want you to discuss with your group. T will ask for some ideas as Sts will brainstorm. T will give feedback by praising answers.
Teacher introduce the text about Nick Campbell who is travelling coast to coast in USA by his bike. T will ask:' Read the article quickly about his motorbike trip across the USA and find out what problems did he have?' T:' You will read alone! you have one minute.' Then T will hand out the texts. Sts will be reading it quick. T will be monitoring if everybody engaged on the activity. T will ask Sts for the answer. T will use their names and praise them for the answers.
T will ask students to answer the 4 questions on their worksheet about Campbell's motorbike trip. To answer these questions, Sts will have to scan reading the text. Teacher will set the learners for the task by saying ' it is an individual reading task, you will read it alone in 4 minutes and answer it alone. However you can discuss it with your group!' T will be asking ISQ questions after giving instructions for the each task if T feels it is necessary, for example: 'Do you have 4 munites?' no 'Do you discuss answers with me?'no.. T will ask : ' what did you think about the question 4? Why did mechanic say it was his worst deal? T will encourage Sts to give their ideas by asking groups and praising for the answers. Sts will come up with their ideas and T will acknowledge their responces. ( Maybe by write all of them on the WB)
T will play the recording CD 2.29 and ask students to listen to the full story. Then have a group discussion on whether the mechanic was fair and how do you think Nick felt? T will play the recording. Sts will discuss in their group and come up with their thoughts about the ending of the text. T will accept all the answers and praise the Sts who has involved. T will be correcting any oral errors. VOCABULARY SUB AIM: T will show the part of the sentence on the WB ( ........and he'd finally decided that it was now or never!) and ask Sts that ' Look at the underlined expression from the article and tell me what does it mean?' On this stage T will hand out second worksheet for the Sts. It is a multichoice question with the answer b ( only now and not in the future ) answer. Sts will be answer the right question. Main point here is that T is getting Sts engaged with fixed expressions. VOCABULARY PRACTICE GAME: T will re-group Sts... Teacher will ask Sts to complete second part on their worksheet. To do that T tells Sts that ' work with your partner and use words from the box to complete the sentences. You have 4 minutes. T will monitor the pairs and correct any errors oral or written. T will give answer key. *** If there is still time for the lesson T will ask each group to write one sentence using one of the fixed expression that they have just learned. T will walk around the groups and will monitor their work to correst and oral or written errors as much as praising good works.
