Procedure (32-46 minutes)
Teacher asks about Peter Menzel ( who is he? what does he do?he is a photojournalist).Teacher shows two pictures to find differences between Guatemalan and American family meal.T asks whether they have the same meal or different. T elicits some food in both families. Such as processed food, vegetables, fruit, meat, pizza, carrots and etc. Ss work in pairs and talk about different meals.
Teacher shows Guatemalan and American family meals and asks what they eat. T continues to elicit the marker sentences; The Guatemalan family eats a lot of fruit. They don't eat much processed food. The American family don't eat many vegetables. They eat some fruit. Ss get the gap-fill handout.First,they work individually and fill in the blanks with the quantifiers and then they check in pairs .T elicits why they think those quantifiers have been used in each case. Teacher uses CCQs to clarify the meaning and the usage. Teacher shows the form and function and then draws a table on the board students should work in groups and put the correct picture under the each column(a lot of, not much and etc.)
Teacher divides the whole class into five groups. The students read and correct the mistakes individually. Then they can check the answers in their groups. Teacher will give them the answer key after that.
Teacher gives the students a handout and asks them to complete the sentences with the information that is true about them. The teacher asks them to do this task individually. Once done with this task, the students discuss their answers in pairs.
Teacher has four pictures of Peter Menzel. The Class is divided into four groups. Each group plans a menu,based on what they see in the photos. They can use " I would like...and...some.." they have 5 or 6 minutes. Then swap their texts in their groups.
