Procedure (25-40 minutes)
T starts the lesson by eliciting the word" Practical".She tells Ss that she can do most of the things at her house by herself.For example, She can change the bulb , fix the dishwasher, etc and then ask the Ss what do they call a person who can do the things herself? Expected reply is Practical.Later T puts a picture on w/b which shows four women.T asks the Ss to put them in order of very Practical to not at all Practical. T reserves her feedback after the next activity.
T gives the Ss a HO and instructs them to listen to the Audio and write the names of the women who said these sentences.Ss listen to the audio alone.Then check the answers in pairs.At this time T asks them to tell which öf these women is very , quite, not very and not at all Practical. Ss tell what they've decided.T gives a whole class Feedback at the end of activity.
MEANING: T clarification the meaning by explaining that we use Do something myself, yourself etc when we do the job without any help from other people. example: İ do most things round the house myself. We use have/get something done when we pay somebody else to do the job. example: İ get my car services at the local garage. We use get somebody to do something when we ask somebody that we know to do the job.İf its a friend or family we probably dont pay them. example: İ get my husband to do most things round the house. T shows a matching activity on board for whole class. FORM: İ get my car serviced at the local garage. sub + get/have+something+ past participle İ get my husband to do most things round the house. sub+get+somebody+infinitive with to+something T gives a HO to the Ss to match the sentences to the verb forms.Ss work in pairs. Whole class feedback at the end of activity. PRONUNCIATION: T writes some sentences on W/B and models them.Ss drill the sentences. T gives a HO and asks the Ss to put the stress on the sentences.Ss work in pairs.T gives a whole class feedback and then gives answer key at the end of activity.
T gives a HO to the Ss for a fill in the gaps activity.Ss read about ken and fill the gaps in with correct form of have or get and the correct form of the verbs in the brackets.They work in pairs and then compare answers.Which of the women in the photos do they think ken is married to? why? T gives a WC feedback with the answer key.
T provides Ss with some phrases to make three list öf things that they have done for themselves, things they get other people to do for them and things they do theirselves.They work in groups and tell eachother about the things on their lists and find who is the most Practical person in the group. At the end they find out who is the most Practical person in the class.
