To provide gist and specific information listening practice using a text about Family in the context of food and drink
Procedure (31-65 minutes)
- Photo of foods projected - Students name the foods - T models the pronunciation of the new words
- food image on board - T writes model sentences - T pronounces the sentences - Ss repeat after the T - Ss practice the target language
- Nick and Fiona are introduces - Ss listen to Fiona - Ss individually choose the correct answer - Ss compare answers in pairs - T get feedback / gives them the answers
- Words are pre-taught (a cup of coffee, a litre, ice-cream - biscuits - a vegetarian) - Ss read about Zoe, Ed, Mei and Ben - They complete the answers - The check/compare in pairs - T gets feed backs / gives them the answers
Receptive model
- T sets the tasks instructions - T ICQs - Ss write about six sentences about themselves
- Ss tell each other about the food they like most by reading to each other the six sentences they have written
