Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide students with clarification, review and practice of target vocabulary in the context of "A change of plan"
Procedure (47-57 minutes)
Ss will be shown a presentation including some of the target vocabulary for this lesson. The target language will be used in question forms here in order to make them think about how they would answer by using the target language. They will be given a simple exercise to work in pairs and answer the questions in the slides with the matching responds they will be handed out. Feedback will be taken with the whole class.
Ss will be put into groups A and B. They will be asked to discuss what they would do in these situations ( taken from the lead-in exercise). Feedback will be taken with the whole class.
Ss will be put into pairs. Ss will be given a set of questions to read before starting to listen the dialogues. They will be given time to listen each dialogue and discuss with their partner regarding the questions asked. The same process will be repeated for all 3 dialogues. I will play the conversations over again to check if their answers are correct. Feedback will be taken with the whole class.
Ss will be asked to read through the sentences given in task 3. Then they will be asked to listen to the conversations in tract 1.44 and either tick ( if the sentence is correct ) or correct ( if the sentence is incorrect ) the sentences given. I will then put them in groups and play the track 1.44 to make them check their answers in pairs. I will also ask about their opinion on how Rob's going to get back into his house. I will nominate a few learners to tell about their opinions. Finally I will play track 1.45 to check if the learners' opinions were correct.
Ss will be put in groups of 3 to complete the sentences 1-3 with a-c Feedback will be taken with the whole class.
Ss will be asked to go around the classroom and speak with people they have not spoken before using the target language "be supposed to" or "be meant to" and the sentences given in exercise 5. No feedback will be taken as this is a free speaking practice.
