To give students practice in pronunciation and speaking in the context of "The power of nature".
Procedure (33-43 minutes)
Ss will be given the the text (Antonio) from the listening exercise 1.36 in two different versions, one with adverbs and one without adverbs. Ss will be asked to read both versions and feedback on which one is more interesting.
Vocabulary 1a-1 Ss will be given cut-ups of all the adverbs and then; They will first be asked to work in pairs to place the adverbs under two headlines "how" or "when" on the board. Feedback will be taken with the whole class. Ss will be asked to come to the board to place the words under the right category.
Vocabulary 1a/ 2-3-4 Ss will be asked to work in pairs again to go through the exercises. Feedback will be taken with the whole class. The mistakes will be corrected with CCQs.
Workbook exercise page 21. Ss will be asked to work in pairs to fill in the blanks with the correct adverbs. Feedback will be taken with the whole class.
Pronunciation 2 a & b Ss will listen to the sentences from Fran's and Antonio's stories. Drilling will be done with the whole class for the right pronunciation.
Ss will be divided into 2 groups- A and B. They will be asked to read two separate stories in pairs and answer the questions that are prepared for each reading text and answer the questions as well as think about which adverbs from 1a they can use to make the story more dramatic. Finally one student from each group will pair up, so A and B will pair to tell each other about the stories they have read, also by using the notes they have taken.
