Main Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of a postcard in the context of travel

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of adjectives in the context of travel

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will show some pictures of postcards and try to elicit word "postcard" then i will show them 3 questions and ask them to talk about it in pairs. - Did someone ever send you a post card?  - Who sent it to you?  - How did it make you feel? then I will ask one or two person if they have heard anything interesting.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

I will give Ss two written postcards one by one. - read this postcard fast and tell me where is the city it's talking about - do the same for 2nd postcard - now read both cards and tell me how they are similar? (for example both start with the name of the place) - check your answers with your pair

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

I give them the chart for different stages of writing a postcard. we go through the chart together. then i will draw a table of adjectives on "2nd" WB (i will need this chart for later) and fill it with Ss. while doing so i introduce some new adjectives to them too.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

i will show them some pictures and ask (individually or in pairs based the number of Ss) to take a picture they want to write about. I will give them the black and white pictures and draft postcards. I will instruct them to use adjective table and model postcards (stage table) to write their own.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

when they finished writing i will ask them to read their postcard to class and correct them. then when everyone have correct postcards i will give them the color pictures to make a beautiful postcard at the end.
