Procedure (35-42 minutes)
T will write the key words of target language on board and tell students she is gonna make a quiz a surprise and will hand out a paper in which there is a gap-filling test to gauge students' knowledge on "such as, like, as, so and such". Ss will have 3 minutes to complete the test/fill in the gaps while the T is monitoring them to decide whether to teach the target language or skip the "teach" part. Then they will check their answers in pairs. T will hand out the answer key. Here, T will decide to continue with either listening or speaking.
There will two different types of warmer part depending on whether there will be teaching part or not. 1. If most of the Ss can't fill in the gaps correctly: T will continue with listening part as she will need a context for grammar points. She will show the picture of listening and tell them the story briefly in order to skip the gist listening part. 2. If most of the Ss can fill in the gaps correctly: T will continue with speaking activities. T will show some pictures about Titanic and elicit some opinions about the movie and the cast. (T will use the target language)
1. If most of the Ss can't fill in the gaps correctly: Then T will hand out a folded paper and Ss will listen to the record by choosing the correct option in the exercise in the folded paper. They will check their answers in pairs. And one of the Ss will show the answers on the board. After this, Ss will unfold the paper and fill in the gaps in Guided Discovery in the paper in 4 minutes. Ss will check their answers in pairs and T will show the answers on board and ask some concept checking questions. 2. If most of the Ss can fill in the gaps correctly: T will hand out a speaking practice paper in which grammar points are included. Ss will first choose the correct words/phrases in the exercise in 3 minutes and check their answers in pairs. T will show the answer key on WB to ask some concept checking questions. Then T will ask Ss to talk to their partners (in pairs) and ask the questions in the exercise. Show a demo for the questions. Monitor/Do Error correction
For both options that are speaking and listening, T will hand out a speaking practice paper in two different colors. Ss will write down their opinions on a film/play/TV drama they've seen recently by using "such as, like, such, so, as". T will remind them not to write full sentences bu in short notes.
After they wrote down their opinions without creating full sentences, T will ask them to find a partner who has different colored paper and talk about it and ask questions to each other. I can show a demo here as well. Monitor/Do error correction on WB.
