İn this lesson, students learn new business vocabulary through guided discovery based on a reading text about The Apprentice. the lesson starts with a discussion about to be become an apprentice to successful busnessman. Finally there is a text to be read which students read and relate the reading text with vocabulary

Main Aims

  • To provide the specific vocabulary from a text that includes vocabulary and phrases such as "Apprentice - contestant - etc." in the context of That's a good idea.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide To provide gist about contestant competing to become an apprentice to successful businessman

Procedure

Stage 1 (Lead In) (3-5 minutes) • To introduce the lesson and make the context of the lesson interesting for the SS

-have projector ready to project video about The Apprentice What is this? who wants to be in this program?

Stage 2 teaching of vocabulary (12-14 minutes) • to prepare students for understanding some words

T explains a fake story about him self as a participant in the same program of The Apprentice but withut telling the name of this program (competition Program) during of my story I will try to elicit some words which he will explain in each new vocabulary he will elicit the new word, check concept, drillin, and write on the board in the final of his story he will give more information about each words (form, and phonetic transcript). then he will let the students to repeat the words loudly again and again.

Stage 3 pre-teaching vocabulary (4-5 minutes) • matching Vocabulary with their meanings

give SS small sheets of paper to match them with their meanings working in groups after that T gives them the answer they will check

Stage 4 pre-reading (4-6 minutes) • to decide what the programme is about.

have projector ready for showing a trailer about The Aprentice again. after that let SS to see picture from the book and let them to predicate what this picture about and title talk about this program and this picture. then after that SS discuss in pairs.

Stage 5 during reading (5-7 minutes) • reading for gist

SS will be given a handout SS read text for gist and check their predictions about the text. during reading SS match their predictions with the text these predicitons will be writen on the board

Stage 6 post-reading (4-6 minutes) • to provide understading of some words from the context

SS will be given handout from the book to complete sentences alone with new vocabulary. then they will check in pairs. T will check and monitor this exercise

Stage 7 vocabulary (2-3 minutes) • business vocabulary

class will be divided into 4 groups and SS discuss the question EX.1c in pairs. T monitors and helps with vocabulary. writing any new words/phrases on the board to help them. in feedback, nominate SS form each group to share his/her answers with the class.
