Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide inference reading practice using a questionnaire text in the context of honesty
Procedure (46-52 minutes)
T will ask the Ss "do you think you are honest" (With a picture on WB-PPT) and elicit some reactions. Instructions: "Read the questions and choose the most correct option for you. We will see how honest you are. :) Work individually." Then she will hand out the questionnaire papers. After 3 minutes, Ss will discuss their answers with their partners in pairs. Then T will show the questionnaire result chart on WB and ask Ss to count how many points they get.
Instruction: Answer these questions in the paper I will hand out. Work individiually. ICQs: Can you look at the questionnaire to see the sentences in the paper? -Yes. Are you going to show your answers to your friends? -No. You have 6 minutes. T will hand out the paper in which there are guided discovery questions. While monitoring, T will decide whether Ss need more clarification or not. If needed, T will show the sentences on WB and ask CCQs just like in the Grammar Analysis. After Ss checks theirs answers in pairs, T will hand out the answer key for the guided discovery. T will elicit the grammatical form from Ss and write it to the WB on the example sentences. Then T will do some pronunciation drills if necessary.
T will hand out a paper in which there is a controlled activity in the same context, helping students practice the second conditional and alternatives of "if". They will have 2 min to answer the questions. Then, they will check their answers in pairs. T will show the answer key on whiteboard via PPT. Then T will hand out a semi-controlled practice as Ss will complete the sentences with their own words. They will have 3 minutes to answer and then check their answers in pairs. T will elicit some answers and do error correction if necessary.
T will divide the class into 2 groups by using 2 different colors of papers (pink and green). Group A and B will answer their own questions and then they will find someone from the other group and ask the questions to that person.
