Materials
Main Aims
-
Phone calls-what you can do in the airport whilst waiting for a flight.
Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide Ss with clear understanding of gist and detailed reading in the context of Phone calls.
Procedure (30-50 minutes)
I will start the class by introducing the topic about Phone calls and introduce the main character of the context (Aydin). I will show a visual of Aydin on the WB and ask Ss questions such as: - What is Aydin doing? - Where is Aydin? - What could he be talking about on the phone? - What does he do? (occupation)
- Then i will get Ss to look at the visual on the board and write the questions up on the board of what (Aydin) is doing, and ask the Ss what they think the responses would be. -Then i will play the recording (2.44) and we will check the answers as a whole class. - I will then get a Ss to come up one at a time and right the answer on the board.
- Then i will get Ss to discuss in pairs what Aydin had said about (the plane) and about (food) and elicit questions. - I will then play the recording once more to listen for detail on the questions asked in activity b. - If needed i will rite example sentences on the board to correct and drill.
- Then i will get Ss to work in pairs. - One students will be A that has all the pictures and the other will be B which is (Aydin) and ask all the questions about the pictures and guess what it is. - Then they will swap positions and practice again.
- Lastly i will get the Ss into pairs and hand out a bundle of strips of paper which is the tape script of the recording and they will need to put the sentences in correct order. - Once they are done i will hand out the full sheet of the tapescript and check their answers in pairs, then as a whole class.
