To provide accuracy speaking practice in a describing the location of objects in relation to other objects in the context of neighborhoods

To provide detailed reading practice using a text about neighborhoods in the context of where someone lives
Procedure (42-47 minutes)
Put up Power Point Slides of cats and dogs. Ask, "Where is the cat?" "Where is the dog" etc. Solicit answers Write the prepositional phrases as they are solicited on the WB ie. "... near the water" Underline the propositions.
Put up preposition text slide. Pass out Worksheet. Demo: underline the prepositions in the first passage. Ss work individually on WS. Peer check. Nominate Ss to come to WB and underline the correct prepositions in each passage. FB: After S underlines, ask Ss is they agree with the solution. Correct any errors and proceed to next passage.
Ss are put into groups. Try sorting them by place - i.e. spice bazaar, grand bazaar, etc. DEMO PHASE: Put the map of Sultanahmet up. Pass out the WS: 1 per S, Pass out map, 1 per Group Do the first question with the Ss, elicit answers. Ss do WS in groups FB - nominate Ss from one group to ask questions from another. Correct errors as needed.
Divide class in group A and Group B DEMO: Put up slide about Ahmet's flat in Bebek. Write first question. Pass out WS Ss work alone to write questions. Peer check. Pass out answer key. DEMO: Role play Question 1A with a S in Group B. CCQ: Ask group A, "Do any of you know the answer?"; "Do any of them know the answer?" Ss from group A mingle with group B, exchange information. FB: Read the complete passage.
