Description

This class is a reading based class where students will become familiar with adjectives. Students will become familiar with such concepts as house swap with activities provided. Students will learn about adjectives and in the concept of places to live. Aimed at reading but vocabulary in particular adjectives is what students will become familiar with. Students will know and understand how to use such concepts

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Students will be given an exercise where they will match adjectives to their pairs and then will have to rearrange the letters to make the adjectives Show ss handout. Elicit an example, e.g. "what is the opposite of good?" ss say "bad. Then tell them "Match the adjectives with their opposites. Work in pairs" Give out materials ss work together to match the adjectives monitor and help when needed Take Feedback - get ss to come to the bored and write there answers

Pre-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Studnets will listen to a cd of someone talking and do activity 2 where they will underline what they hear. After students will work in pairs and Tell their partner about where they live. Words from previous exercises 1 and 2 will be used e-g. "Listen to CD. Which word do you hear ?. Listen and underline" - Feedback taken as a class

While-Reading #1 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging specific information on reading/listening tasks

Students will be given a fill in the gap exercise where they will complete the gaps with adjectives used and learned from previous activities e-g; "Work in pairs. Tell your partner about where you live. Use the words in exercises 1 and 2 to help you".

While-Reading/Listening #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Students will be asked about what they think house swap is after Students will be given a text to read about what it is and then this will be discussed with teacher Ask ss "What is House swap?". Write the word on the bored and elicit some ideas. If no one guesses, model swapping a pen with students. Then ask when we might swap our house. Elicit some ideas. Then say "lets read this and find out"what is a house swap" - Give out reading -ss read and check there ideas - ask ss to check in their peers -take whole class feedback and check answers

House swap reading and matching activity (10-15 minutes) • for students to read and show they understand by matching them together

Students will read about some of the homes available on Houseswap 1-5. then they will match the homes 1–5 to the photos A–F. There is one extra photo.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

8 true/false sentences will be given to students about the details of house. Students will re-read the 5 texts on the houses and answer the questions and the this will be checked with as a class
