Procedure (35-52 minutes)
I will begin by telling Ss how I will soon be looking for a job as an English teacher. As in most jobs, I will have to have an interview in order to be hired. Yet, I am very nervous and I need some tips on how to make sure I get the job for my interview. I will ask Ss to work solo and quickly write a list of 'Do's and Don'ts" for my job interview. After a minute, I will then ask Ss to write on the WB their suggestions.
Students will read the HO and fill in the missing words/phrases. I will walk around and monitor. After 1-2 minutes, Ss will use peer-checking to compare answers.
WC will listen to the audio T6.1 to check their answers. If needed, audio can be replayed, but no more than twice. I will hand out the answer key for the task.
Ss will match the "how to' subjects with the situations in the text that they read. WC will go over answers.
Ss will get into pairs and will be given a 'how to' topic. Ss will come up with a list of tips with at least 3 Dos and 3 Don'ts for their topic. They will have to use the words or phrases in the "Useful Language" HO. After a few minutes, Ss will get up and mingle and find a new partner and teach their new partner about their list of tips. The new partner will try to add at least one new tip to their new partner's list. After a couple of minutes, students will find another new partner. They will keep changing partners until they have a list of 10 Do's and 10 Don'ts.
In case there's extra time, Ss will work on a HO. They will individually read the stories and choose the best heading for each one. They will check their answers with their partner
